Where bamboo is the wrong choice
We would rather say this before you order than after. Bamboo is a natural material and water stains and swells it, so it is the one blind we would keep out of a bathroom altogether — and off any window that takes driven rain or sea spray.
In a sheltered, well-ventilated room it is lovely and it lasts. On an exposed coastal wall it will not. If that is your window, ask us about a solar screen roller or aluminium venetians instead.

Looking after them
Dust only, with a soft brush or a vacuum brush attachment. Bamboo is a natural material and water stains and swells it, so keep it dry and lift it clear of open windows in wet weather.
If one does get soaked, lower it fully and let it dry flat and slowly, away from direct heat. Drying it fast is how a bamboo blind warps.
Questions we get about bamboo blinds
Will they give me privacy at night?
Partly. Bamboo filters light rather than blocking it, so with a light on at night it reads more like a sheer than a blockout. If you need a room genuinely dark or genuinely private after dark, pair the bamboo with a blackout roller behind it.
The colour is not even across the blind
That is the material, not a fault. Uneven grain, natural markings and variation in tone are inherent characteristics of a natural product, and manufacturers exclude them from warranty for exactly that reason. It is also the reason people choose bamboo over something manufactured.
Will they fade?
In strong direct sun, over time, yes — as any natural material does, and fading is not covered by warranty. On a window that really bakes, a solar screen roller is the more durable choice.
Can they be repaired?
A cord or a mechanism, usually. Water damage to the bamboo itself, no — that is a replacement. Send us a photo and we will tell you which it is. More on repairs →
