BLINDS / WOOD VENETIANS

Wood venetian blinds

Warm timber slats for living rooms, studies and bedrooms. A 50 mm slat gives a wide view through when the blind is tilted open, which is the main reason people choose timber over a narrower aluminium slat.

Custom made to your measurements, stained or painted to suit the room, and fitted by our own team.

Colour matched to Plascon

Beyond the standard paint and stain range, we can match your slats to the Plascon colour range — so the blinds pick up a wall colour or a trim exactly rather than sitting near it.

It is a considerably more expensive option and it adds to the lead time, so we would not push it on every job. But where a room has to match, it is worth knowing it is possible. Ask us and we will price it alongside the standard finish so you can see the difference.

Looking after them

Dust along the slats with a soft brush, a duster or a vacuum brush attachment — never across them, which pushes the slats out of line. If a slat is marked, wipe it with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away.

Never let water stand on a timber slat, and never use solvents, bleach or a spray cleaner applied directly to the blind. Timber that gets repeatedly wet swells, warps and loses its finish, and a warped slat cannot be repaired — only replaced.

Questions we get about wood venetians

Can I have them in a bathroom?

Yes, provided they are not inside the shower itself. Our rule of thumb: if you get steam on your mirrors you will have trouble with any blind in that room, whatever it is made of. Ventilation matters more than the product — open the window or run the extractor after a shower.

Will they warp near the sea?

Timber moves with humidity, and that is the material behaving normally rather than a defect. In a well-ventilated coastal room they are fine. On an exposed sea-facing wall that takes driven rain, come and talk to us before you commit.

Can a broken one be repaired?

Often yes. A venetian that will not lift evenly, or has a snapped cord, can usually be restrung rather than replaced, and the slats themselves are normally fine. Warped slats are the exception. More on repairs →

Should the blind go inside the window recess?

Inside the reveal looks neater; mounted on the wall in front covers the frame and blocks more light at the edges. We advise per window when we come out to measure.
